Malawi Campus Facilities
The modern facilities of the Lilongwe
campus include everything to make student living comfortable and
studying enjoyable.
CHAPEL:
Chapel services will be held five days a week in
the spacious and inspiring KIRK OF THE HILLS Chapel building. This
beautiful and worshipful structure will be a constant reminder to
staff and students, as well as to the community, of the goodness
of God in bringing African Bible College into existence.
MEN'S DORMITORIES:
Each of the five menss dormitories has sufficient
rooms for twenty-four students, with four students to a room. Each
student has his own bed, closet and study desk. Each dormitory unit
is complete with shower and toilet facilities along with a room
for washing and ironing clothes.
WOMEN'S DORMITORIES:
Each dormitory is designed to accommodate 16 women
with two in each room. Each room has a closet and storage space
for two, as well as a study desk for each lady. The specially designed
dormitory has enclosed bathroom access as well as its own reception
lobby, study area and laundry facilities.
CAFETERIA:
The large WALLACE MEMORIAL DINING HALL has been built
to accommodate 350 people. Modern kitchen facilities are equipped
with both electric and propane gas stove for the preparation of
three nourishing meals daily by qualified cooks and kitchen staff.
LIBRARY:
The WEISS MEMORIAL LIBRARY is the most complete theological
library in Central Africa. In addition to its stacks and study area,
there is a cassette tape library where students may gain knowledge
from hearing as well as reading. The library contains over 10,000
volumes, efficiently cataloged.
ADMINISTRATION:
THE MONTGOMERY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING is the control
center of the college. It contains the offices of the Director,
Registrar, Dean of Students, Director of Expansion, Academic Dean,
and the Printing Room which contains photo copy machines.
GYMNASIUM:
The beautiful, large "MACON GYM" is the
finest gymnasium in East Africa. It is used daily for indoor sports
such as basketball, volleyball and tennis as well as for special
tournaments and ceremonies. This modern facility also features an
electronic score board, a weight training room and seating for over
1,000 spectators. The gymnasium is also a powerful tool for evangelism
in ABC's Thursday outreach ministries.
CLASSROOMS:
AFRICAN BIBLE COLLEGE has two large classroom buildings.
The spacious rooms in these buildings are especially designed to
be functional and motivating to the student - light colored flooring,
large windows, and excellent lighting, all contribute to pleasant
studying conditions. Modern desks, chairs and tables, as well as
overhead projectors, electronic typewriters, computers and video
tapes all insure that the most up-to-date teaching methods are employed.
COMMUNICATION BUILDING:
The Recording studios are some of the finest in East
Africa. Technically designed to give quality sound productions,
the air-conditioned studio is equipped with the best in modern sound
and recording equipment. Students will utilize these facilities
as part of their training in Radio Broadcasting.
BIBLE COLLEGE BY RADIO:
BIBLE COLLEGE BY RADIO was heard for the first time
by five West African countries over ELWA's 49 meter band in 1978.
This Bible teaching ministry was so well received that on November
5, 1984, Rev. and Mrs. Chinchen began a second broadcast over the
25 meter band, reaching almost completely across the African continent,
into such countries as Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sudan and even
the Cameroons.
In 1988, even before ground had been broken for the
new college in Malawi, Bible College by radio began a third broadcast
over TransWorld Radio. Over TWR's 31 meter band Rev. and Mrs. Chinchen's
teaching reached across all of East Africa into the English-speaking
countries of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Swaziland, Uganda
and of course Malawi.
BIBLE COLLEGE BY RADIO:
is a 30 minute
program which is proceed in the recording studios of the African
Bible College. Students at the College use their broadcasting training
to assist in the production of this exciting outreach.
Along will the daily Bible teaching, there is also
a correspondence course. Students are utilized in this department
to grade the returned lessons and to send out the free books, commentaries
(when available) and certificates that are awarded to those successfully
completing a course.
BIBLE COLLEGE BY RADIO: with a potential
listening audience of millions, has been used by God not only to
reach people for Jesus Christ and to build them up in their Christian
lives, but also to make African Bible College known throughout Africa.
